We are a group of English speaking Europeans (in this instance, Spanish and English) with the same intention, namely, to provide a service to ease your integration within your chosen area of the EU. We feel that the area most common, which is holding back this integration, is – COMMUNICATION.

We are local people, who come across the same problems as you do, and the only difference is we know the answers to the questions – or at least where and how to find them.

Eventually, given time, we will all learn the necessary skills to enable us to communicate with each other. BUT, until then, we will all need local assistance (help) and local friends (mates). Which is why ‘Helpmates’ was formed.

We at 'Helpmates' can offer you and your family both of these 'missing' qualities (help and friendship). We also wish for you to be happy and content within your community and therefore our service is designed to help you settle into your chosen area (or at least to understand it better).
‘Helpmates’ will offer an open door policy so you and your family will have local contacts to call in on, ones who speak your language and the native language – just come and talk.

Amongst the many services we will offer are:
- Assistance to resolve communication problems.(Translation, written or spoken)

- Assistance for contact with local tradesmen. (Builder, plumber, electrician etc.)

- Help in understanding and completing bill payments and charges. (Suma, town hall, utilities etc.)

- Help with registration of yourselves or your vehicle. (Doctor, NIE/NIF/Residency, Job centre, Schooling, ITV(MOT), Car purchase/transfer etc.)

- Information and advice on Fiestas, bus/taxi/train timetables, town/walking maps, places to go, things to do (adults and/or children).

- A ‘chatroom’ should you just need someone to talk things through with.

However, should we incur a cost* in assisting you we will obviously have to pass this on.
(*This will include our time, should you need us to accompany you; and a mileage allowance, should we use our own transport in doing so).
